At the beginning of this year, she rolled her ankle mid-match in a tournament in Auckland.

Raducanu is set to have the operation on her left hand this month after getting surgery for her left ankle in the coming weeks.

She hopes to train on the tennis court again by the end of the summer, but her team has refused to predict an exact return date.

Many fans and fellow tennis players have commented their support and well wishes for the star.

“Rest up, Emma, and come back stronger 💜💚,” commented the official Wimbledon Instagram account.

“Speedy recovery ❤️,” wrote Ukrainian tennis player, Marta Kostyuk.

“Surgery is never nice, always a little scary, well done,” commented one person.

“Get well soon Emma and you have many fans around the world supporting you and having your back,” wrote another.

“Get well soon Emma!, we will be waiting for you when the moment is right, wishing you the best,” commented a third.

Image: Instagram

“I didn’t come to play”: Bruce Willis’ wife smacks down trolls

Emma Heming Willis has been forced to shut down the heartless trolls targeting her in the wake of husband Bruce Willis’ dementia diagnosis.

In a video posted to social media, the 44-year-old model throws away claims that she’s been using Bruce for her “five minutes” of fame, and instead declares that she will turn them “into 10 because I'm always going to advocate for my husband.”

Emma - who has spoken openly about her support for Bruce - once again stressed that she would be using this opportunity to raise awareness, before she was “going to turn my grief, and my anger, and my sadness, and do something good, around something that feels less than.”

“So, watch this space,” she said, “because I didn’t come to play.”

Emma’s message comes barely three days after she reached out to followers, “caregivers, or dementia care specialists navigating this world” alike, seeking advice on how to help “get your loved ones out in the world safely”.

“If you are someone who is looking after someone who has dementia,” she said in the clip, “you know how difficult and how stressful it can be, just to get them out into the world and navigate them safely - even just to get a cup of coffee.”

And while the response to her post was overwhelmingly positive, the cruel few determined to make things worse for everyone just had to say their piece, and to prompt Emma’s fight back.

They were nowhere to be seen in her latest post - possibly hiding with their tails tucked between their legs - and instead, she was once more met with an outpouring of support.
<blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; I know this is your job, but maybe just keep your space.”

“For the video people, please don’t be yelling at my husband asking him how he’s doing, whatever, the woohoo-ing, the yippee ki yay’s, just don’t do it.”

“Give him the space. New details surrounding Emma Pattison’s prior arrest

Warning: This article contains distressing content that some readers may find confronting.

It is now known that Emma Pattison, the headmistress at a private school in the UK who police believe was shot dead by her husband, made a distress call to a family member just hours before she was discovered.

Further to that, new details have emerged that reveal that Mrs Pattison was arrested by Surrey police following a domestic row with her husband, George, seven years ago.

Mr Pattison telephoned police one evening just prior to midnight, claiming that Mrs Pattison had slapped him around the face in their home.

Only a short time later – two minutes or so – Mr Pattison then called the station back to ask the police officers not to come, saying that the matter was inconsequential and that he had overreacted.

However, Surrey police decided to proceed with the home visit to investigate the complaint, and arrested Mrs Pattison on suspicion of common assault.

Mrs Pattison was then questioned in the presence of a solicitor, and was subsequently released without charge.

While a full investigation into their deaths has commenced, Surrey police are currently refusing to discuss Mrs Pattison’s arrest seven years ago in 2016, stating instead that autopsy results on the bodies of all three of the deceased are expected by the end of the week.

Police have yet to disclose the official cause of death, but are confident no one else was involved in the "isolated" incident.

Detectives confirmed a firearm registered to George, of which he had a license for, was found at the scene and they are treating the tragedy as a double murder and suicide.

Detectives suspect George killed his wife Emma, 45, and little Lettie before taking his own life.

Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey, senior investigating officer on the case, said, “This is an incredibly traumatic incident and we are working around the clock to investigate and understand the exact circumstances which led to this point."

Don't go it alone. "I broke down": Emma Watkins opens up on emotional meaning behind latest outfit

While spotting celebrities in gorgeous gowns isn’t unusual, Emma Watkins’ latest appearance in a pink and gold dress has more meaning than it seems.

The former yellow Wiggle revealed that the frock was designed with a particular person in mind, which she wore as an ambassador for Frocktober.

"The dress that I'm wearing isn't just a pretty dress. [It was] actually created by a beautiful designer, Jaimie Sortino, and it's in honour of his cousin Jenna that passed away,” she told 9Honey.

Jenna Crierie was 33 and eleven years into her battle with ovarian cancer, the most lethal gynaecological cancer, when she passed away.

"I never actually had a chance to meet her, but I've met Jaimie a few times, that's why those pictures and the dress are quite special," Watkins said.

"It really is another reminder of the lives that we've lost due to this disease… even though half of us didn't actually get to meet her, it felt like she was there."

Endometriosis, a condition which affects one in nine Australian women including Watkins, is among the known risk factors for ovarian cancer, though there are no early detection tests.

Watkins recalled how she was brought to tears when she met Leanne Flynn, one of millions of women who had ovarian cancer that was caught too late, for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation’s Frocktober campaign.

"She was telling her story about what she's been going through for the last five years, the multiple surgeries and tests. I basically just cried," Watkins said.

"I broke down in front of the audience, I wasn't expecting to hear such a poignant and connected story to do with the disease itself. Ever since then, I've been highly involved."

As a Frocktober ambassador this year, Watkins is fighting to ensure that experiences like Crierie’s and Flynn’s are no longer as common.

Even pap smears can’t catch ovarian cancer early, which the 33-year-old said said frustrated her.

"That's why it's frustrating, because normally women don't get to pick this up early on. That's the issue," she continued.

"When I found that something wasn't right with me, I was already stage four endometriosis. And the same thing with Flynn, you're just too far along."

With vague symptoms - think abdominal and pelvic pain, boating, appetite loss, unexplained weight changes and tiredness - and nowhere near the same publicity as diseases such as breast cancer, it can be hard for women to find out before it’s too late.

"I think women should be more cautious," Watkins said.

"Even for endometriosis, that wouldn't have been picked up with a pap smear."

While it might be too late for women who have been diagnosed with late stage cancer, Watkins hopes that campaigns like Frocktober can spark change in the years to come.

Images: @emmawatkinsofficial (Instagram)

Airline responds to "fat-shaming" onboard comments

Dr Sydney Watson – a US-based Australian journalist and political commentator – took to Twitter on October 11 to complain about being sat between two obese people on an American Airlines flight.

Her mid-flight comments caused an immediate furore as she posted that “I am currently - literally - WEDGED between two OBESE people on my flight,” along with a photo of her personal space being invaded.

“This is absolutely NOT acceptable or okay. If fat people want to be fat, fine. But it is something else entirely when I'm stuck between you, with your arm rolls on my body, for 3 hours.

“I don't care if this is mean. My entire body is currently being touched against my wishes. I can't even put the arm rests down on either side because there's no f***ing room.

“I'm sick of acting like fatness to this extent is normal. Let me assure you, it is not.

“If you need a seat belt extender, you are TOO FAT TO BE ON A PLANE.

“Buy two seats or don't fly.”

I am currently - literally - WEDGED between two OBESE people on my flight.

This is absolutely NOT acceptable or okay. We're sorry you were uncomfortable on your flight.”

This however was not enough for Dr Watson who eventually found out that “what happened to me went against American Airlines own policies regarding overweight passengers.”

A few days later after her initial flight, an American Airlines worker got in contact with Dr Watson apologising for the inconvenience and offered her a $150 Trip Credit.

“I'd rather take the $150 American Airlines offered me as a refund and give it to someone who needs a PT or a gym membership,” she tweeted in response.

Still furious at what occurred on the flight, Dr Watson said she has no regrets over being in the news for fat shaming.

“I'm not sorry. I meant everything I said. Justifying obesity is NOT OKAY,” she said.

“And, rock on to anyone trying to lose weight and change their lives. I believe in you.”

Images: Twitter/Instagram

John McEnroe slammed for comments about rising star Emma Raducanu

Tennis legend John McEnroe has been left red-faced after his comments about rising British tennis star Emma Raducanu were ill received.

Raducanu retired from her round of 16 match at Wimbledon for medical reasons against Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, but McEnroe suggested she was overwhelmed by the occasion of playing at Wimbledon at her first-ever Grand Slam.

“It’s a shame. I feel bad for Emma. It appears like it just got too much, which is understandable,” he said.

“It makes you look at the guys and girls who have been around for so long and wonder how they handle it. Hopefully she will learn from this experience.

“Maybe it’s not a shame this has happened right now when she is 18. I played this tournament at 18 and in a way I was happy I lost.

“I was able to understand what it would take to make it. Allow her to take some deep breaths and maybe get some wildcards.”

His comments were slammed on Twitter, with British sports reporter Rob Vickerman tweeting “How can John McEnroe come out with those comments not knowing anything about her retirement from the match?!”

Broadcaster Harriet Minter agreed.

“Listening to the John McEnroe commentary about Emma Raducanu. Two things: 1. Is he drunk? 2. Is there anything more annoying than a man telling a woman she’s not hurt she’s just emotional? No, no there isn’t. Please ask him to stop," she tweeted.

Journalist Chloe Hubbard added: “Feel like the producers could have given McEnroe a bit of a better mental health briefing ahead of him sharing ALL the views there. But you do you.”

Even Raducanu's opponent, Australian Alja Tomljanovic said that his comments were "definitely harsh".

“I wasn’t 100 per cent sure what was wrong with Emma. I did hear the reasoning. I’ll start with saying that I can’t imagine being in her shoes at 18, playing a fourth round in your home country. It’s something I can’t even imagine,” Tomljanovic said.

“For him to say that, it’s definitely harsh. I have experienced something similar but not to that extent. I know that it’s a real thing. I’ve spoken to athletes that have gone through that. It’s not easy.

“When I heard the reasoning, I almost felt worse about it because I know how bad that can feel. But then again, it didn’t happen to me.

“I can’t imagine how she must be feeling having to pull out. Being down 6-4 3-0, you can come back from that quickly, especially on grass.

“It’s really sad that she had to do that. I do feel sorry.”
